Brothers in initial formation gathered at the Cenacle Retreat and Conference Center in Chicago from November 10-13, 2016.  Postulants and temporary professed Brothers from across the United States attended as well as the Brothers who accompany them in their formation. The theme of the time together focused on social justice.

Executive director, Keith Donovan, of the Brother David Darst Center, which focuses on social justice education and immersion experiences for youth facilitated part of the experience.  In addition to sharing some reflections on justice, the Brothers were invited into a peace circle, a model that focuses on restorative justice, in which each person is invited to participate.  The Brothers also participated in various exercises to further explore their experience and understanding of social justice. There was time to envision and integrate what was learned as well as time for personal and communal reflection.

Thursday and Friday, the participants attended Mass with the Cenacle Sisters, the sponsoring religious order of the Cenacle Center.

Saturday night participants were joined by young men discerning the Brothers on retreat in another part of Chicago. They joined the gathering for Mass, dinner, sharing of vocation stories and social.
