Brother Anwar Martinez, FSC
From One Big Family to Another
Raised with a big family (four Brothers) a thirst for community was apart of Brother Anwar’s upbringing. Also, a desire to be of service, through the youth group at his home parish was a constant part of his adolescent life. Though if you ask him, he probably wasn’t aware of it at the time. After college, Brother Anwar joined the Lasallian Volunteers and taught sixth graders at San Miguel School in Camden, NJ which in part reignited a longing for those experiences of community and service from his youth. He decided to give it a try and enter the Brothers where in his educational community he’s taught, facilitated retreats and participated in homeless outreach and service immersion experiences.
“I have been very fortunate to live in such a supportive community and I’m looking forward to all the good things that God has in store for all the Brothers of the Christian Schools around the world, and for me!”
